"THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE CENTER OF GRAVITY OF THE 21ST CENTURY"

Why is the whole attention of the entire human race drawn or focused on the Middle East since the end of the second world war in 1945 and after the official formation of the state of Israel by the world's superpowers at that time and the United Nations in 1948? Why are the most developed economies, the global players in the 21st century and the most powerful nations today are all heavily interested in the Middle East. Why is the world's public opinion so heavily divided and divisive today on the different events in the Middle East. Why is the Middle East the hottest political and the economic spots in the 21st century human universe? Why is the Middle East considered the boiling point of the world today?

The Middle East is very important today to the whole human universe and it will continue to remain globally relevant for a long time to come for the following three main reasons that are stated below: (i) The over 68 years of politically unresolved conflict between the state of Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the entire Arab world. (ii) The huge oil reserves in that region of the world that amount to over 67% of the entire global oil reserves and 33% of its natural gas today that America is protecting for decades with her military power and through her military bases in the Gulf Arab nations. (iii) The entire 20th and the 21st century global economies respectively are all oil addicts, oil-dependent, oil-controlled, oil-powered and oil-driven.

The Middle East will continue to be very important to the whole world as long as the oil in that region of the world remains in a very high demand for the western and the emerging economies, as long as the Middle East continues to remain the world's major oil and gas supplier and and as long as the political conflict between the state of Israel and the Palestinians remains unresolved. In conclusion, the recent edition of the energy magazine from the International Energy Agency that is known as the World Energy Outlook says that "America will surpass Saudi Arabia as the biggest oil producer in 2020 and become self-sufficient in energy by 2030 as new drilling technologies, alternative fuels and declining consumption reduce the need to import oil." This development in the future America may lower the interest and the importance of the entire Middle East in the future global affairs, thereby leaving the Middle East oil and gas for the needy Asian nations and the emerging economies to tap.
