COLIN POWELL:THE COLORFUL AND THE CONTROVERSIAL AMERICAN POLITICAL-GENERAL

Colin Powell 's name rings bell across the length and the breath of  the America's public and national life for the last two decades or more. This internationally known retired American military general is synonymous with history making and political controversies. He is principled, blunt, bold, fearless and independently minded on all the most important international and domestic issues in America of our time. Colin Powell was the first African-American to serve as the 65th United States Secretary of State and the first African American to also serve as the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Armed Forces. He is a moderate conservative member of the Republican Party of America who was born under the America's racial segregation system, he grew up under this system and he personally witnessed how the American nation has gradually evolved into the today's nation of racial inclusion or integration.

Colin Powell has remained one of the most respected voices and opinion leaders that millions of ordinary Americans and the news media around the nation sought after on the most important national issues that are highly divisive in nature in the national life of this great union. He is also a political-general that both the Democrats and Republicans respect. This general supports the moderate political views of the liberals despite being a highly respected member of the GOP. He is pro-choice. He publicly endorsed and voted for President Barack Obama for his election and reelection over the Republican candidates in 2008 and 2012 respectively. He supports national gun control law in America to regulate gun ownership. He stands for D'ont Ask, D'ont Tell in the United States military and for the affirmative action to provide a playing level field for the American minorities in order to have easy access to fair competition due to the centuries of slavery, racial segregation and institutionalized discrimination that put the minorities behind.

On the NBC program "Meet the Press" with David Gregory last Sunday. Colin Powell barred out his mind on the state of his political party, the GOP, by publicly criticizing the party's exclusion of the American minority groups from its internal affairs, the anti-Obama and the anti-minority rhetorics of some of the GOP key leaders, the Birther movement that doubted President Barack Obama's American citizenship, the Tea Party radical elements that have hijacked the entire GOP operations, the GOP nationwide voter suppression agenda against the minorities, the GOP refusal to change with the rapidly changing American demographics that is reflecting simultaneously in her changing electoral demographics in America in this 21st century.
