WAS JESUS CHRIST A PROSPERITY GOSPEL PREACHER AND TEACHER?

The first and the most important way to answer this very important question today is to look carefully at what the four documented records of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ in the land of Palestine that were recorded by the four different authors of the canonical gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John said. The brief accounts of Jesus' physical appearances after his resurrection from the dead and his final ascension from mount Olivet to the right hand of his Father in heaven as it was recorded in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles will also give us more insight into the type of the gospel that Jesus Christ preached 2,000 years ago.

The second way to answer this important question is to know exactly what the prosperity gospel is, teaches or preaches and then compare the teachings of the prosperity gospel with the words and the teachings of Jesus Christ from the New Testament Scriptures. By doing these objective comparisons, it will be very easy to conclude whether the teachings of the prosperity gospel of today and the gospel that Jesus Christ preached 2,000 years ago in the New Testament Scriptures are the same, similar or are both totally different and light years apart from each other.

Jesus Christ introduced his own gospel to the world for the first time in Mark 1:14-15:"Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel".

Apostle Paul in the Book of 1 Corinthians 15:2-6 defined the gospel of Jesus Christ in this light and manner:"By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep".

These two definitions of the gospel of Jesus Christ above, one from Jesus Christ himself and the second definition on the same subject matter came from Apostle Paul. By comparing these two definitions with one another, we can easily unlock the exact meaning of the gospel of Jesus Christ or the gospel that Jesus Christ preached in the land of Palestine about 2,000 years ago. These two definitions from Jesus Christ and Apostle Paul pointed to two similar concepts:repentance from sin and believing in Jesus Christ who died for sin.

I will now systematically examine what the prosperity gospel is all about, teaches or preaches. According to the online website, the Wikipedia defines prosperity gospel in this light:"Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel or the health and wealth gospel) is a Christian religious doctrine that financial blessing is the will of God for Christians, and that faith, positive speech, and donations of tithes and offerings to Christian ministries will always increase one's material wealth. Based on non-traditional interpretations of the Bible, often with emphasis on the Book of Malachi.......",

First and foremost, the two gospels (the gospel of Jesus Christ and the prosperity gospel) are not the same and they are not even similar to one another in all reality or ramifications. The gospel of Jesus Christ primarily focuses on the repentance from sin and the believing in Jesus Christ who is the perfect sacrifice for sin. The prosperity gospel focuses on health, wealth creation or financial blessings that come through mandatory tithing, giving of one's offerings, exercising personal faith in God and positive confessions.

Secondly and finally, Jesus Christ according to the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and from the Book of the Acts of Apostles did not tithe either once or on regularly basis and he never commanded tithing to be practiced or to be observed by his apostles, disciples or his Church.

There are no biblical evidences also in the entire New Testament Bible that showed that the 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ and the early Church or Christians tithed also either once or on regularly basis. The early Christians according to the accounts of the New Testament Scriptures practiced voluntary givings as their standard way of giving their own offerings.
