Who is the true antichrist according to the teachings of the Holy Bible? Do we already have the antichrist in the world now or not? Is the coming of the antichrist an event that is going to happen in the nearest future or it has already happened or it has already taken place? How can we know and identify an antichrist in our world of today if the antichrist is already here? What are the biblical signs of the presence of the antichrist in the world?
Antichrist is a biblical concept that is associated with Jesus Christ and the Christian journey of faith. The word antichrist in the Koine Greek which was the original language of the entire New Testament Bible is the word "anticristoV" which means instead of Christ, against Christ, opposition to Christ and opposite of Christ.
The term antichrist was coined by Apostle John and he used it 4 times in his two letters of 1st Book Of John and the 2nd Book of John respectively. The term antichrist was not used again in the other 65 books of the entire Holy Bible but the concept can be seen clearly or indirectly in New Testament Bible especially in the Book of Jude.
In the New Testament Bible, the antichrist is associated with the last hour, the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ globally, the last days, the Church Age and the dispensation of the Holy Spirit or the Grace of God. 1 John 2:18 tells us that there are "many antichrists" not one antichrist and they are already in the world for the last 2,000 years of Church existence. Many antichrists were present in the Church Age in the past and many are still present in the Church Age of today.
1 John 2:22, 1 John 4:3 and 2 John 7 tell us that any person, group, institution, religion, organization and nation that denies that "Jesus is Christ", "does not confess Christ" and "will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh" (Jesus' supernatural birth, his sinless life on earth, his sonship of God and man, his physical death on the cross, his physical burial, his resurrection, his ascension and his glorification) are all biblical antichrists.
The doctrine of antichrist from the New Testament Bible tells us that antichrists are all over the world for the last 2,000 years of the birth of the Church of Jesus Christ. Antichrists are satanically inspired and they manifest in different entities (persons, groups, religions, human institutions, organizations and even nations of the world).
