"NIGERIA:A NATION OF HUMAN ABNORMALITIES IN THIS 21ST CENTURY UNIVERSE"

Nigeria at 53 remains a nation of official corruption, economic injustice, poverty-creation, hyper-inflation and a comfortable havens for the economic profiteers. It is only in Nigeria that an elected public official can earn the lifetime income of a highly educated university professor and researcher with international  recognition in just one year of service in the public office.

Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a university graduate with the same academic qualifications, years of experience and skills that decided to work for an oil, gas or IT sectors will earn 10-15 times the annual salary of his or her professional counterparts with the same academic credentials in the public sector employment.

Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a 5-star hotel in the central Lagos city will cost you more money than the same type of a 5-star hotel in London, Paris, Dubai, Moscow, New York or Washington, DC. Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a litre of petrol will sell for the same price as a litre of petrol in America that has an economy that is 300 times bigger than that of Nigeria and she pays a minimum wage that is 13 times more than the lowest paid Nigerian worker every hour on the job.

Nigeria is the only country that I know today in the world where a real estate that is below the international standards at Lekki Pennisula, Ikeja and Ogudu in Lagos or at Asokoro in Abuja will be more expensive than a similar property in the Downtown Baltimore Inner Harbor or in Columbus, Ohio. Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a plate of Iyan, Amala or Jollof Rice with Dodo that are locally made will be more expensive than a buffet in a Chinese restaurant in New York, London, Paris, Houston or Chicago.

Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a landlord will demand for the two years of your rent-money as an initial deposit from any prospective renters that receive their salaries once a month or on monthly basis. Nigeria is the only country that I know today where a 30 minute ride in a local taxi will cost you about 10 times for the same distance and travelled time in Lagos than in London, Washington, DC, Los Angeles or Toronto.
