"NIGERIA FACES AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE IN 2011 AND BEYOND"

"NIGERIA faces the possibility of a National Referendum in the nearest future that may eventually break up the present one nation arrangement into many independent, autonomous and self-governing nations". The Nigerian project which was the original political idea and the arrangement of the British colonial masters has failed completely to address the various challenges in Nigeria from 1960 to date.

"Nigeria today exhibits all the political symptoms and signs associated with a failed state after 50 years of her self-governing". The central government of Nigeria today does not have the "full control of its entire territory". The Niger Delta region of Nigeria is under the firm control of the Niger Deltan rebels. "Nigeria government has failed to provide basic public services for the tens of millions of her citizens since independence". "Hospitals today in Nigeria are mere clinics, educational systems are outdated, the nation continues to face erratic power supply and the public infrastrutures are old and dilapitated".

"Official culture of corruption in government circles by public elected and government officials is the order of the day and remains unabated". The former and the present Nigerian leaders and government officials had illegally siphoned over $300 billion to foreign banks in the western world according to reliable sources from the wesrtern financial institutions. "The oil in Nigeria has generated over $600 billion to date for the government  as its revenue, yet there is nothing on the ground today in Nigeria to justify this enormous oil wealth".

"The nation is governed by lawlessness and criminality". The supreme law of the land which is the constitution is not followed and respected to its true spirit and letters. Courts' legal decisions are not respected by government leaders and officials, the principle of separation of power between the three branches of the government is not followed. "All elections that were conducted to date did not reflect the collective will of the Nigerian voters". The nation has seen too many cases of unresolved politically motivated murders and assassinations of polilical opponents.

"Millions of young Nigerians have moved out of the Nigeria into the nations of the world searching for opportunities or greener pastures due to decades of serious economic decline, high unemployment and worthless national currency". Many highly educated and locally trained Nigerian professionals are now living and working in the western hemisphere as a result of the poor salaries, lack of avenues for career advancement and blink future at home. "The middle class is insignificant and deminishing. Nigeria has one of the world's largest wealth gap or income inequality with over 70% of Nigerians living on $1 a day living budget".

"The nation has not witnessed a true national development, unity, oneness, working democracy and the rule of law". The country continues to be divided along ethnic, social, religion and regional lines. Sudanese current case for the two nations is a possibility in Nigeria one day. The Libyan leader's recent suggestion to break Nigeria into two nations of the North (Islamic) and the South (Christians and Animists) is also a possibility in the future.

"Nigeria is a marriage of ethnic nationalities that is not working for all the partners in this union for the last 50 years of this marriage". The nation cannot defile the accounts of history. Many nations have broken up into smaller nations around the world in the recent decades, so Nigeria cannot be an exemption to these historical trends. What is going on in Nigeria in the last 50 years strongly points to this possibility one day in the nearest future.

  1. Most of the best patriots in Nigeria today are men and women that never went along with the government's positions on our national issues as a nation of many ethnic groups, religion faith and social affliations.
