Ronald Reagan made this political statement “Government is not a solution to our problem government is the problem.” during his presidential campaigns, this statement signified the center of gravity of his conservative political ideologies and the policies of his administration from 1980 to 1988 in the White House. The whole philosophy of Reaganomics as promoted by the late President Ronald Reagan were deregulations, lower taxes and the state rights plus union busting which is what today's political conservatism is based upon.
President Ronald Reagan lowered the federal income tax rates, deregulated, reduced the capital gains tax rates, favored a lower tax rate for the capital gains taxes as again the payroll taxes, pegged the national minimum wage rate to $3.35 per hour and slashed the federal government financial assistance to the local governments as well as to the government funded programs for the low incomes or the poor. These policies known as the "Reaganomics" created the rapidly growing income inequality and wealth gap in the modern America from 1980 to date. The GOP of 2013 is all about the the full implementation of these political policies that are also known as the Reaganomics across the United States.
The presidency of Ronald Reagan also saw the rapid rise in the power and the political influence of the Christian religious right in the GOP. This influential voting blocs in the GOP had attempted since the time of Ronald Reagan in the White House to rewrite the true account of the history of the formation of the American nation by falsely twisting the facts of the America's history and publicly claiming that America is a Christian nation that was founded on the religious principles of the Judeo-Christian theology and that the United States constitution did not separate the state from the Church or religion.
The political philosophy of Reaganomics also gave birth to the America's aggressive foreign policies of huge defense spending, strong military power and the preemptive warfare that were all based on the neo-conservative political ideology that has made every GOP administration in America from the presidency of the late President Ronald Reagan to the recent presidency of George Bush Jr to embark on many costly foreign wars of choice that America has heavily paid for in terms of the precious human life and treasury.
